The most up-to-date weather reports available are provided by the aviation industry in the form of the METAR, a coded report updated every minute of the day. Because these are more than a little intimidating for the casual reader, I have provided a translation program. Simpy select the nearest station from this list and hit 'go':

The Met office is also the place to go for more indepth information, including:

• Satellite images
• Three-day pressure chart
• World forecasting
• TAFs and METARs (requires free registration)

BBC five-day forecast

A simple five-day forecast is provided by the BBC based on UK Met Office data. It tends to be a little optimistic, but is available for anywhere is the UK.

In general, five-day forecasts are more guesswork than science, so don't trust day four and five too far.
